Chilean Patagonia’s Finest All-Inclusive Luxury Resort and Spa Located at the Entrance of Torres del Paine National Park Delivers Unparalleled Location and Experience

Santiago, Chile. May 2011 – Blending traditional Patagonian hospitality with design inspired by the dramatic surrounding location, Tierra Patagonia is set to become one of South America’s most iconic hotel addresses when doors open in December 2011.

The 40-room resort – sister property to the award-winning Tierra Atacama –  occupies a premier location on the shores of Lake Sarmiento, at the entrance to Torres del Paine National Park and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, enveloped by stunning views of the legendary Paine Massif, one of the most photographed landmarks of the Patagonian region. The design of the hotel suggests a wind-blown dune blending with the natural flow and geology of the Pampa as it reaches the lake and then the mountains of the Paine range.  Three of Chile’s leading architects, Cazu Zegers, Roberto Benavente, and Rodrigo Ferrer, designed the hotel to minimize the impact on the land while maximizing the awe-inspiring views.  The interiors are being created by Chilean designers Alexandra Edwards and Carolina Delpiano, who also designed the award-winning spaces at Tierra Atacama. Edwards and Delpiano are incorporating hand-crafted furnishings using natural Patagonian textiles, wools and trims, to evoke the surrounding environment with comfort and style

A land of extremes, of diverse ecosystems and great beauty, Chilean Patagonia is for travelers who wish to get far away from it all.  This sublime place on Earth is bound to excite travelers with a thirst for finding the special less-known corners of the world, who want to learn about the local flora, fauna, and geology, as well as the fascinating human history.  In this uttermost south region of Chile, the human history includes the indigenous people, the first explorers of the West - Magellan, Drake, Fitzroy, Darwin - and the early Patagonian settlers who struggled mightily with the elements to survive.

The Tierra Patagonia vacation experience will appeal to lovers of the outdoors, offering an abundance of hiking, birding, horseback riding, and mountain appreciation. The hotel’s team of local expert guides will develop excursion itineraries based on guests´ interests and energy levels.

The excursions at Tierra Patagonia will be wide ranging.  Three examples are the following: a search for the Ñandu (the Chilean ostrich), the Andean Condor, the Guanaco and the Big Hairy Armadillo; a hike to see spectacular glaciers, mountains and fields of Lupine flowers; or a trip to the neighboring estancia (ranch) to ride horseback in the Pampa or watch the teams of men, horses and dogs working, herding and eventually sheering the sheep.

Tierra Patagonia has been designed so that all guestrooms have spectacular views across the lake to Torres del Paine. Accommodation types include three generous-sized two-story Design Suites, 37 Tierra Patagonia standard double rooms, and family suites offering capacity for up to six people.

Wellness and pampering is central to the guest experience at Tierra Patagonia, with a full range of signature spa treatments at Tierra’s UMA spa, an indoor pool and outdoor Jacuzzi. Body and facial treatments will embrace local customs, and incorporate the local elements such as stones and crystals, plants and herbs.

Tierra Patagonia offers an all-inclusive program. All visits include the following: ground transfers from the Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, or Calafate airports, accommodations, all meals, daily excursions, open bar of house drinks and wines, and the use of the spa facilities. Special rates are extended to children and teens, making Tierra Patagonia an excellent option for family vacations.

Rates start from US$2460 per person for four nights in a Patagonia Standard Double Room, based on double occupancy.
